What to expect during a craniosacral therapy session
During the session clients lie comfortably and fully clothed on a massage table. The practitioner uses light, non-invasive touch, usually no more than 5 g of pressure (about the weight of a nickle), to get a sense of where the flow of fluid and movement of nerves, muscles, or fascia may be restricted, and may lightly hold your feet, head, or sacrum to allow these restrictions to release. The treatment may also include work with other areas of the body, such as the joints or diaphragm. Craniosacral therapy is not massage and does not involve any joint manipulations or adjustments. Sessions are 45 min to 1 hour.
After the session
At the end of the session clients usually feel deeply relaxed. Sometimes it is possible to feel a bit sore or experience heightened emotional perception within the first 24 hours. As the session is processed and tissues re-align, these sensations dissipate. Clients usually report better sleep and energy levels, and often, a sense of profound well-being and a decrease in symptoms. It usually takes a day or two to fully integrate the session.
How many sessions are needed
Every person and their individual need is so unique that the number of sessions it will take to resolve a particular issue is not really possible to predict. Some clients experience complete relief or a significant improvement in symptoms in just two or three sessions, while in other cases it takes many more. Together, we will discuss your expectations and goals for treatment and continually evaluate our progress. My goal, always, is to resolve the issue at hand quickly and comprehensively, so that you can be and feel well without the support of the therapy.
Reiki is energy work. It is a laying on of hands technique that can effectively balance one's energy on many levels - physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. It is most often used to manage stress and pain, and creates a sense of calm and well-being. I can also integrate it with craniosacral work seamlessly, as needed, to achieve the best results for the client.
The fee for 1 hour Craniosacral or Reiki session is $120.
2 sessions each week are made available for sliding scale clients. Sliding scale is assessed based on need.
